Founded in 2020 by Colin Treseler, Supernormal aimed to address the challenges of capturing the nuances of virtual meetings without distracting participants. The company initially struggled with its previous speech-to-text provider, which failed to deliver the accuracy needed for effective meeting notes and further workflow insights.
The partnership with AssemblyAI marked a turning point. Treseler emphasized the impact of even a 1% improvement in transcription accuracy on their business. This enhancement allowed Supernormal to introduce new AI-powered features, such as the ‘Ask Norma’ assistant, which provides users with detailed meeting insights on demand.
Expanding Features and Customer Base
Supernormal’s customer base, which includes notable names like QuantaData and Tribe AI, has expanded rapidly. The platform now processes between 10 to 15 million tasks monthly from users’ virtual meetings. The increased transcription accuracy facilitated the launch of Supernormal’s Voice Agents, customizable tools for handling routine conversations in sales and support.
As Supernormal’s reach extended internationally, the demand for multilingual transcription grew. A Brazilian airline’s interest exemplified the platform’s capability to handle large-scale virtual meetings, prompting a surge in requests for additional language support.
Future Prospects
Looking ahead, Supernormal aims to continue enhancing productivity for its clients, enabling them to focus on meaningful work. Treseler noted that the core mission is to provide users with more time for creative and effective collaboration.
