These 2 banks extend special FD schemes but are interest rates same or lower?

As the March 31, 2025, deadline has passed, most banks have discontinued their special fixed deposit (FD) schemes that offered higher-than-usual returns. However, do not be disheartened; Indian Bank and Punjab & Sind Bank have extended their limited-time FD offers, providing depositors more time to lock in attractive interest rates up to 8.05%. While Indian Bank has retained its existing special FD rates, Punjab & Sind Bank has reduced interest rates on select FDs and discontinued certain special FD tenures. Indian Bank’s Special FD Deadline

Indian Bank, a public sector lender, offers special fixed deposit (FD) schemes of IND Supreme 300 Days and IND Super 400 Days. These schemes provide the highest interest rates of 8.05% for super senior citizens. The bank has kept the regular fixed deposit and special fixed deposit interest rate unchanged.
The bank has extended the last date of these schemes to June 30, 2025.

Punjab & Sind Bank’s Special FD Deadline

Punjab & Sind Bank has reduced the special fixed deposit interest rate and has ended some of the tenures. The deadline has been extended to June 30, 2025. The bank has discontinued 333 days and 555 days tenures, offering FD interest rates of 77.2% and 7.45%, respectively.

For the 444 days tenure, the bank has reduced the interest rate by 20 basis points-from 7.30% to 7.10%. For 777 days, the lender reduced its rate by 0.75%-from 7.25% to 6.50%. On a 999-day term, it reduced the interest rate by 30 basis points-from 6.65% to 6.35%.

Other Banks Special FD deadline

HDFC Bank has ended its special edition fixed deposit, while State Bank of India (SBI) and IDBI Bank have not provided any updates on this matter.
