SBI special FD, mutual fund, bank locker: 5 money deadlines in December 2023

The deadline for mutual fund account holders to nominate a beneficiary or opt out of it by submitting a declaration form will end on December 31, 2023. If mutual fund account holders fail to comply with the norms within the deadline, their folios will be frozen, said the markets regulator SEBI.

The deadline for existing demat account holders to provide a choice of nomination or formally opt out of nomination through a declaration form has also been extended till December 31. The last date for physical security holders to submit PAN, nomination, and KYC details is December 31, 2023.

Market regulator SEBI earlier warned that demat accounts that didn’t make a decision will be frozen from January 1, 2024.

You can update details of your Aadhaar card for free till December 14, 2023. Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has time and again urged residents to update their Aadhaar card details online free of cost. It must be noted that this free update of Aadhaar details is only available for online modifications and is not accessible at physical Aadhaar centers.
Do remember that it is not mandatory to update your Aadhaar. Amid the rising number of online frauds related to the Aadhaar card, the Union government has said that all the Aadhaar card holders may update their details once every 10 years.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has earlier asked the banks to complete the process of renewal of locker agreements in a phased manner by December 31, 2023. You may have to sign a revised locker agreement and submit it to the bank branch if you have submitted an altered locker agreement on or before December 31, 2022.
