SBI closes Amrit Kalash FD offering 7.60%: Know SBI special fixed deposit earning 7.75%

The State Bank of India (SBI) has discontinued its popular Amrit Kalash Fixed Deposit from April 1, 2025. Amrit Kalash used to offer up to 7.60% per annum for 400 days. However, FD investors can still invest in another SBI special FD scheme to earn a higher interest rate. FD investors can invest in Amrit Vrishti, which offers slightly better rates and added benefits for senior and super senior citizens.

SBI withdraws Amrit Kalash fixed deposit

The SBI Amrit Kalash was a limited-period FD scheme that offered an attractive interest rate of 7.10% per annum for regular investors and a higher 7.60% for senior citizens on a 400-day deposit.
According to the SBI website, “”The specific tenor scheme of “400 days” (Amrit Kalash) at rRate of Interest of 7.10 % w.e.f. 12- April- 2023. Senior Citizens are eligible for rate of interest of 7.60%. Since withdrawn w.e.f 01st April 2025.”

SBI continues Amrit Vrishti special FD scheme

The Amrit Vrishti is a special fixed deposit scheme with a tenure of 444 days. The scheme was launched on July 15, 2024. The special FD is offering a competitive interest rate of 7.25% per annum for regular investors. To provide additional benefits to senior citizen investors, the special FD offered a higher interest rate of 7.75% per annum, while super senior citizens (typically aged 80 and above) receive an even better rate of 7.85% per annum.

These latest rates are applicable from January 3, 2025.

Super Senior Citizens are offered a Rate of Interest 7.85%. ” w.e.f. 03.01.2025.”

SBI Patron special FD scheme

SBI has introduced a new term deposit option called “SBI Patrons” exclusively for Super Senior Citizens aged 80 years or above. Under this special FD scheme, the bank offers an interest rate that is 10 basis points higher than the rates available to regular senior citizens (applicable on all tenures).

SBI WeCare special FD

SBI has another special FD called “WeCare” scheme for senior citizens. The scheme offers 7.50% per annum on fixed deposit for a tenure ranging from 5 years to 10 years.
