Banks in India observe certain national and provincial bank holidays. Banks in the country are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, with the remaining Saturdays being working days unless declared as a holiday in the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday list.Since banks remain closed on two Saturdays a month, customers must plan transactions like cheque clearances and loan processing accordingly.

Today, banks across India will remain open, except in Telangana, where banks will be closed to observe the birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram.

Babu Jagjivan Ram Jayanti is celebrated every year on April 5 in honor of his contributions to India’s freedom struggle, social justice movement, and agricultural advancements.Babu Jagjivan Ram, also known as Babuji, was an influential leader who served as India’s Defence Minister during the Indo-Pak War of 1971, which led to the creation of Bangladesh.
Babu Jagjivan Ram Jayanti is celebrated on April 5 every year.
