FinanceLaneby FinanceLane
May 23, 2025

If you’re planning a bank visit this weekend, here’s what you need to know. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) mandates that all scheduled banks in India—both public and private—remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, in addition to Sundays and specific regional and national holidays.

Are banks open or closed on May 24, 2025?

May 24, 2025, falls on the fourth Saturday, which means banks across India will remain closed for physical branch operations. This holiday applies nationwide and includes all banking institutions regulated by the RBI.
This closure aligns with the standard practice of banks observing holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, in addition to Sundays and other national or regional holidays.

Banking operations that will be unavailable

Customers will not be able to do in-branch transactions such as cash deposits, withdrawals, or cheque clearances. Loan processing or approvals requiring manual intervention. Account opening or other documentation-intensive services.
All in-branch activities requiring staff support or document handling will resume on the next working day, which is Monday, May 26, 2025.Bank holidays in May 2025: Check full list of state-wise bank holidays

Digital banking

Digital banking services, including online banking, mobile apps, ATMs, and electronic payment systems like NEFT, RTGS, and IMPS, will remain fully operational, allowing customers to manage funds, pay bills, or transfer money without disruption.
