Rs 5,000 monthly stipend to Rs 6,000 grant: PM Internship Scheme 2025 registration ends next week

Prime Minister Internship Scheme 2025: The PM Internship Scheme (PMIS) has opened applications for Round 2 of its pilot phase, with the deadline approaching next week. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has invited applications from eligible candidates through the official portal, pminternship.mca.gov.in, offering an opportunity to acquire valuable work experience across various sectors.

What is the PM Internship Scheme?

The PM Internship Scheme (PMIS) is a government initiative announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget 2024-25. It aims to provide young individuals with practical exposure to professional work environments. Under this scheme, selected interns will be placed in India’s top 500 companies, gaining hands-on experience that enhances their career prospects. The programme is designed to equip youth with essential skills and industry insights, boosting their employability.

What is the last date to apply for PMIS Round 2?

Applications for internships in Round 2 of the PMIS pilot are currently open and will remain so until March 12, 2025.

How to apply for the PM Internship Scheme?

Interested and eligible candidates should follow these steps to apply:
Step 1: Visit the official website pminternship.mca.gov.in.
Step 2: Candidates need to create an account on the portal, providing their personal details, educational qualifications, and other necessary information..
Step 3: Applicants should create a profile that includes details about their academic background, skills, and areas of interest. The profiles will be used to align candidates with suitable internship opportunities.
Step 4: Browse available internship opportunities. Submit the application before March 12, 2025.
Interns who successfully complete the internship will receive a certificate of completion under the PM Internship Scheme from the partner companies.Financial assistance
Each intern will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000 for the entire 12-month internship period. The company employing the intern will initially pay a monthly payment of Rs 500, based on attendance, performance, and good conduct. Once the company completes the payment, the Government of India will transfer the remaining Rs 4,500 immediately to the intern’s Aadhaar-linked bank account. In additionaddition, to the monthly stipend, interns will receive a one-time grant of Rs 6,000 from the government upon enrolling. This will also be transferred to their bank account.

Insurance
Insurance coverage shall be provided to each intern under the insurance schemes of the Government of India through the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, , for which the premium amount shall be given by the Government of India. In addition, the company may also provide additional accidental insurance coverage to the interns.

Who is eligible to apply for the PM Internship Scheme?
To apply for the PM Internship Scheme, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be an Indian citizen.
  • You must be aged between 21 and 24 years (as of the last date for submission of the application).
  • You must not be employed full-time or engaged in full-time education (candidates enrolled in online or distance learning programs are eligible).
  • You must have completed your Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or its equivalent, Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or its equivalent, or hold a certificate from an industrial training institute (ITI), a diploma from a polytechnic institute, or a graduation degree such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Pharma, etc.
