This development is part of Gala Music’s strategy to boost the engagement and earnings of artists within its ecosystem, according to Gala News.
Beyond the Platform
Gala Music’s updated model leverages weighted distribution from Spotify, allowing fans to contribute to their favorite artists’ success beyond the Gala Music platform. This approach integrates a gamified experience that rewards fans with $MUSIC tokens, incentivizing more engagement with the platform. The $MUSIC token serves as the core currency within the Gala Music ecosystem, rewarding artists and track owners based on their streaming performance on Spotify.
The integration introduces a DSP general star rating, which evaluates a track’s performance across all DSPs relative to others on the Gala Music platform. To qualify for this distribution model, a track must outperform the bottom 35% of tracks on Gala Music or the bottom 35% of DSP streams overall.
Track Earnings
Track earnings are now determined by three factors: platform listens, ownership of music against an artist, and the track’s DSP rating. While this new approach may reduce the income for exclusive track owners, it offers a more holistic view of an artist’s success, encouraging broader promotion and distribution of their music.
