The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has urged Aadhaar card holders to update the latest identity and address to enable ease of living, better service delivery and accurate authentication. Therefore, submitting recent identity and address documents is in the interest of the Aadhaar number holder. UIDAI has asked those people to update their Aadhaar details if they have not done in the last 10 years.
To encourage this, the submission of documents is free of charge on myAadhaar portal till March 14, 2024.
Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identity number that can be obtained by residents of India, based on their biometric and demographic data. Due to its uniqueness and ability to be linked to an individual’s biometrics, Aadhaar prevents duplicate numbers among residents, detecting fictitious and ghost identities that cause leaks. No resident might have a duplicate number since it is linked to their unique biometrics, recognising fraudulent and ghost identities.
