Just three weeks after launching the Sahara Refund portal, the Union Minister for Cooperation Amit Shah transferred the first instalment of a refund of Rs 10,000 to 112 depositors who had requested it through the CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal on August 4, 2023.
“The first instalment of Rs 10,000 each has been transferred to 112 beneficiaries. Till now, 18 lakh people have registered on the portal, said Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, according to the official Twitter handle of ANI.

Sahara refund: How to know if a depositor has received a refund
The depositor will receive an SMS or email mentioning that he or she has received a refund in their bank account. Also, the depositor will receive a notification via SMS/Email if the claim request is approved or not.

According to a press release by PIB dated July 18, 2023, the first payment of up to Rs 10,000 will be made through this portal to one crore investors who have deposited Rs 10,000 or more. He stated that all four societies’ complete data is available online for application on this portal.

The depositor must have an Aadhaar-linked mobile number and an Aadhaar-seeded bank account to submit a claim request for a refund on the Sahara portal. Depositors cannot submit claims if the bank accounts are not linked with Aadhaar.
The Aadhaar seeding will make it easier to transfer funds securely to the real depositor’s bank account, according to the Sahara refund portal website.
Sahara refund: How will the depositor know if a claim submission for a refund was successful?

Who is eligible to claim for Sahara refund?
The depositors who have made deposits and have outstanding dues receivable before March 22, 2022, for Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Kolkata, Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Lucknow, Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Limited, Bhopal and March 29, 2023, for Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, Hyderabad.
How many days will it take to receive the Sahara refund amount?
The Sahara Societies will validate the claim and process it within 30 days of its successful filing. After the Sahara Societies have verified your claim, the Authorised Verifier and CRCS will handle it within the next 15 days. The claimed amount will be credited to the depositor’s Aadhaar seeded bank account 45 days following the successful claim submission, according to the Sahara refund portal website.
