Saturday bank holiday: Are banks open or closed today on February 22, 2025?

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) oversees bank holidays in India. The bank holidays in different states differ according to national, state-specific, and festival holidays. Apart from this, the second and fourth Saturdays and Sunday of each month are bank holidays in India as per RBI regulation. All public, private, cooperative, and regional rural banks are subject to this RBI regulation.Physical bank branches remain closed. This means that in-person banking services like bank deposits, bank withdrawals, and cheque clearances will not be available on off days.

Are banks open or closed today on February 22, 2025?

February 22, 2025 is the fourth Saturday for February month. Hence, bank branches will be closed today. Bank customers should remember that banks remain open on the first, third, and (if applicable) fifth Saturdays of the month.

Online banking options available

Digital transactions, ATMs, and mobile banking will continue to function normally. Bank customers can use the online banking channels to do transitions.
Consumers can check their account balances and make cash withdrawals via ATM services. Digital transactions through mobile apps, net banking, and UPI will not be interrupted. Online money transfers will not be impacted because RTGS, NEFT and IMPS Transactions services are now available around-the-clock.Cheques that need to be deposited or cleared will be handled on Monday, February 24, 2025, the following business day.Mid week bank holiday next week
February 26, 2025 i.e., coming Wednesday is a bank holiday. This is because banks will be closed in most states on February 26, 2025 on the occasion of Mahashivratri. However, bank branches will be open in the following states:
a) Tripura,
b) Tamil Nadu,
c) Sikkim
d)Assam
e) Manipur
f) Arunachal Pradesh
g) Nagaland
h) Bengal
i) New Delhi
j) Goa
k) Bihar
l) Meghalaya.

February 28 bank holiday in this state
On February 28, 2025 (i.e. coming Friday) bank branches will be closed in Sikkim for Losar celebration. Losar is a Tibetan Buddhist festival that marks the beginning of the lunar new year for buddhists.
