Many must be wondering if January 1 is a bank holiday. Well, the answer is, banks are only closed in a few states on New Year’s Day. In January banks will be closed for 16 days including second, fourth Saturdays, Sunday, Republic day and more.

Mizoram, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, and Meghalaya these states will be closed on January 1 on the occasion of New Year’s Day.
There is only one long weekend in January, since Republic Day (January 26) falls on a Friday, followed by fourth Saturday and Sunday.
Banks are closed in Aizwal on January 1 and 2 on the occasion of New Year Celebration
While for other states banks will be working as a usual working day.
