SBI credit card reward points redemption: Processing fee, expiry date, how to redeem SBI reward points

Yes. A reward redemption fee of Rs 99 plus applicable taxes is debited from your SBI Card account for redemption requests processed in a batch, according to the SBI Card website. This amount is towards delivery and processing charges in the case of physical product redemption and statement credit. Do note that the reward redemption fee + applicable taxes would be charged only once per batch processed in a day, irrespective of no. of items redeemed during this period.Suppose the batch change triggers at a particular time in the day (for example, 10 pm or 11 pm) and the cardholder makes two redemption requests at this particular time, one is received just before while the other after the batch has been processed, then redemption fee will be levied twice, according to a FAQ on SBIcard.com. There are no other charges associated with reward redemption.

There are various ways to check SBI credit card reward points. Check the following methods to know how many reward points you have accumulated:
1) By referring to the latest credit card statement.
2) By logging in to chatbot ILA using your online account user ID and password and asking about reward points.
3) By giving a missed call at 8422845514 from the mobile number registered with SBI.
4) By sending an SMS—REWARD XXXX (where XXXX stands for the last 4 digits of your card number) to 5676791 from your registered mobile number.
6) By logging in to sbicard.com and going to the dashboard. At the bottom, the rewards points summary & expiring rewards points are displayed.

Yes, you can accumulate your points only for 24 months from the date of the accrual under the Shop & Smile Rewards Program. Any points not redeemed by the end of the stipulated 24 months from the date of accrual will lapse. SBI cardholders can know the no. of reward points that are expiring in a particular month by logging on to sbicard.com or their mobile app. This information is also mentioned in the monthly credit card statement.

2) You can also convert your reward points into cash. To do this, you need to contact the bank through the mail or call their customer service hotline.

Yes. The outstanding amount on a credit card can be paid off via a reward point balance. However, in this case, reward points can only be used in multiples of 2,000. Do remember that is also not possible to transfer the reward point balance from one SBI card to another.
