When does a taxpayer receive an intimation under Section 143(1)?
Tax refund: If you overpaid your taxes, the intimation will indicate the refund amount.
Tax shortfall: If you underpaid taxes based on the department’s calculations, the intimation will specify the amount you owe. You’ll also receive a challan to make the payment.
Conformance notice: A straightforward notice will be issued in cases where the tax returns filed by the taxpayer align with the assessment conducted by the assessing officer. In such instances, no separate 143 (1) intimation is sent. The ITR V acknowledgement serves as your intimation.
