How to update/change date of birth in Aadhaar

Aadhaar is a 12-digit identifying number issued by the UIDAI to all Indian residents. Everyone, from a newborn to a senior citizen, is eligible to apply for Aadhaar. It has become an extremely important document for the majority of financial institutions.It is critical that your Aadhaar data is correct and up-to-date at all times. Access to the following services needs an Aadhaar-registered mobile number.

Here is how to update date of birth in Aadhaar

Step 1: Visit https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/

Step 2: Click on ‘Login’

Step 3: Enter your Aadhaar number, captcha code and click on ‘Send OTP’. A one-time password (OTP) will be sent on your registered mobile number.

Step 4: Enter the OTP and click on ‘Login’. Do keep in mind that OTP is valid for 10 minutes only.

Once logged in, on the homepage you can access various services. Select ‘Update Aadhaar online’ to update date of birth.

Once selected, you will be redirected to the new page. You will be shown how the updation process will work. Through the online portal you can make minor correction in name, correction in date of birth, gender, language and address. Once you have read all the steps,

Step 5: Click on ‘Proceed to update Aadhaar’.

Step 6: Select ‘Date of Birth’ from the options

Date of Birth correction requires a scanned copy of the original supporting document. Please make sure that the supporting document is in your name and valid.

Step 7: Upload documents and make a payment

Note: You have to pay Rs 50 towards the online update fee. You can make the payment through credit/debit card or net banking. This amount is non-refundable. In case of payment failure, you can retry the payment.

The information will be compared to the supporting document. Your request will probably be denied if the information provided is incorrect. You will get an SMS notice with the Enrolment ID and outcome after the quality check process is through.

According to the UIDAI website, “Normally update request is completed within 30 days with 90% service standards. You can check the status of the request processing by visiting myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.”

DoB updation for second time

Currently, changing your date of birth online only allows for one modification. The exception handling mechanism can be implemented if it needs to be modified more than the permitted amount of times. However, modification can be done by visiting an Aadhaar Kendra, the following papers should be brought with you.

A DOB certificate issued by the authority under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969.

A self-declaration stating that he /she is requesting an update of DOB, after availing DoB update service once.

Important FAQS as per UIDAI website

1. What details can I update through Update Aadhaar online Service?

You can update your Name, Gender, Date of Birth (DoB), Address and Language through Update Aadhaar online Service. Please ensure that your mobile number is registered in Aadhaar while using this service.

How many times Aadhaar data can be updated?

Following limits are applicable for the update of Aadhaar information:

Name: Twice in Life Time

Gender: Once in Life Time

Date of Birth: Once in life time subject to condition that present status of the DoB is declared/approximate.

How can I submit my supporting documents in case of Update Aadhaar online Service?

You will be prompted to upload scan/image of the supporting document in pdf or jpeg format in the Update Aadhaar online Service. Please upload correct supporting document for processing of your request. For certain documents like Passport, Rent and Property agreement, image of multiple pages would be required.

Can I update my date of birth through Update Aadhaar online Service?
Yes, you can update the date of birth in your Aadhaar by providing a valid Date of Birth (DoB) proof document. Please refer UIDAI for list of valid of date of birth document. Please see that your name in the DoB proof document matches with that of Aadhaar.

5.
I have already updated Date of Birth in my Aadhaar once. Can I update/ correct it?

No. You can update the declared/approximate Date of Birth (DoB) only once either through online portal, mobile app or visiting nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

6. Is there any fee involved for Online updation of Demographics details?

Yes, for online update of demographic information you have to pay Rs. 50/- (including GST)

Documents required to update date of birth

1.Birth Certificate

2. Passport

3. PAN Card/e-PAN

4. Service photo identity card issued by Central Govt./State Govt./UT Govt./PSU/Banks

5. Photo ID card having Date of Birth, issued by Recognized Educational Institution

6. Transgender ID card/ Certificate issued under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Right) Act, 2019

7. Marksheet issued by any recognized Government Board or University

8. School Leaving Certificate (SLC)/ School Transfer Certificate (TC)/ Extract of School Records issued by Head of School/ SSLC book/ SSC certificate containing Name and Date of Birth

9. Central/ State Pension Payment Order

10. CGHS/ ECHS/ Medi-Claim Card issued by Centre/ State/ UTs Govts./ PSUs having with Photo & Date of Birth

11. Valid Long Term Visa (LTV) along with Foreign Passport (valid or expired) of origin country issued to minorities communities of Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan namely Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jain, Parsis and Christians

12.Certificate of Identity having Name & DoB issued on UIDAI standard certificate format for enrolment/ update by:

i. Gazetted Officer Group ‘A’/ EPFO officer

ii. Recognized Educational Institution signed by Head of Institute

13. Exception cases of DoB Change: Resident to submit self-declaration as per notified format.
