The DigiLocker is a digital platform launched by the Government of India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) under the Digital India Corporation (DIC) with the goal of minimising the use of physical documents and enabling agency-wide storage of electronic documents.
DigiLocker’s Digital Aadhaar is the same as the UIDAI’s eAadhaar. DigiLocker has partnered with UIDAI to make it available to its users instantly after they link their DigiLocker account to their Aadhaar card.
The benefit of digital Aadhaar is that it can be shared in electronic form with any agency or institution, eliminating the need for photocopies or printouts.
How to signup for Digilocker
Visit the website and click on Sign-up and enter your mobile, Aadhaar number and other details. Your mobile/Aadhaar number will be authenticated by sending an OTP (one-time password) followed by setting your security PIN for 2-Factor authentication. This will create your DigiLocker account.
How to link Aadhaar with Digilocker
Step 1: Login to your digilocker account
Step 2: On the dashboard you will find an option to link to enter your Aadhaar Number. After entering the Aadhaar Number select the check box.
Step 3: Click on ‘Link Now’ button.
Step 5: Enter the OTP received on your mobile
Step 6: Click on the ‘Verify’ button.
You will not be able to link your Aadhaar with DigiLocker if your mobile number is not linked to your Aadhaar card.
Your DigiLocker account with Aadhaar is linked successfully. After the successful Aadhaar Linking, you can see your Aadhar Profile in your DigiLocker account ‘Profile’ section.
Once the Aadhaar is linked, you can see the Aadhaar card in your Issued Documents section.
You can download your Aadhaar card at any time from your digilocker account by clicking the PDF icon.

Here are the steps to get Digital Aadhaar in DigiLocker if you already have Aadhaar linked DigiLocker account:
Step 1: Login to DigiLocker with your credentials.
Step 2: Go to the issued section where you will see your digital Aadhaar Card listed.
Step 3: Click on the view/download option to access the Digital Aadhaar.
