Due to the heavy rains that has continued to lash Telangana, the state has declared three days of holiday for educational institutions as part of preliminary measures. “Three days holiday for educational institutions. All measures have been taken to face the incessant rains and floods,” Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said on Sunday.
What about banks, will they also be closed due to the rains? As of now bank branches have been asked to remain open. ET Online called the
customer care to ask whether banks will be open in Hyderabad due to the rains. The customer care executive told us that as of now (11.45am July 11) there has been no communication regarding closures of branches; for now branches will be open on July 11, 12, 13, and 14. If the situation worsens and if it is communicated to the branches to close, then only will they shut the branches, stated the executive.
A second flood warning was issued on Monday as the water levels in the Godavari river crossed the 48 feet mark. A red alert was issued in eight districts – Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Mancherial, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Adilabad and the capital city Hyderabad – after the IMD on Sunday forecasted more rains over 24 hours.

Banks across the country are open today, except for in Jammu and Kashmir where banks are closed today due to Eid-ul-Azha.

Next long bank holiday weekend
The next long weekend for banks in India is in August. Banks will be closed on three consecutive days on August 13, 14, and 15 (Saturday, Sunday and Monday) due to the second Saturday, Sunday, and Independence Day, respectively. Banks are closed all over the country as Independence Day is marked as a national festival. In Uttar Pradesh banks will be closed for four days as August 12 (Thursday) banks will be closed for Raksha Bandhan.
